LEDO Pizza 2009 Golf Classic

September 14, 2009 – Now in its 16th year, the LEDO Pizza Golf Classic is the longest running golf tournament to benefit Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Over 200 players participated in this year’s tournament which took place at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course. The event raised $38,000 for the worthwhile cause.

After a fun, golf-filled morning, participants feasted on roasted pig and attended the award ceremony, followed by the silent auction. Entertainment was provided by members of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders, and Wentworth Richardson performing the island steel drums.

The success of the event relied heavily upon its numerous sponsors including at the $5,000 Chairman’s Club level- Pepsi, US Foodservice, Lankford Sysco and many, many more. Tisher Nissan provided two luxury cars up for grabs if a hole in one was acquired on the designated holes.

One hundred percent of the proceeds benefited John’s Hopkins Children’s Center, the pediatric hospital at John’s Hopkins. Since its creation near the University of Maryland, in 1955, LEDO Pizza has dedicated much time to giving back to its beloved community. The company has grown a lot over the past 54 years but the famous square pizza and trademark thick pepperoni can still be found at any one of its 88 franchise locations across the East Coast. LEDO Pizza is proud to continue supporting local charities, especially one as influential as John’s Hopkins Children’s Center.

LEDO Pizza wins pizza wars!

Thursday afternoon, hundreds of Montgomery College students, faculty and staff participated in the Rockville, Maryland Campus’ first-ever Pizza Wars competition at the MC-Rockville track.

The fierce competition included: LEDO Pizza, Potomac Pizza, Three Brothers and La Pizzeria, who generously donated hundreds of slices in hopes of obtaining the title, an honorary plaque, and of course, bragging rights.

The voting process consisted of taste testers sampling each product and rating their favorites anonymously, which were then collected in ballot boxes and counted. In the end, local favorite LEDO Pizza won the honors.
