Forestville LEDO Pizza grand reopening celebration
Forestville, MD – LEDO Pizza, a regional pizza franchise, held its grand reopening of their Forestville location at 3020 Donnell Drive on October 9, 2010.
Tragedy stuck the Penn Marr Shopping Center in May of 2009, when a gas leak caused 5 stores to explode; LEDO was among them. Fortunately, due to the hard work of the Prince George’s County Fire Department, the area was evacuated prior to the explosion.
Owner Mohammed Siddique wished to express his immense appreciation to all who came to his aid by dedicating a wall in his store to the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department. This mural is adorned with items commemorating the men and women that responded to the incident.
The unveiling was held from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. LEDO Pizza Forestville invited special guest Fire Chief Eugene Jones to partake in the festivities, as well as a slew of local firefighters and medics. As a very special thank you, the store awarded a free small cheese pizza to all firefighters and paramedics who attended the event.
Everyone who came the joyous occasion received something special. Patrons received a free small cheese pizza with the purchase of any large pie.

LEDO Pizza turns 55 and thanks its loyal patrons with deals
Annnapolis, MD- Who would have thought 55 years ago, a little pizza shop near the University Maryland would grow 97 locations strong? To celebrate its 55th anniversary, and to show its immense appreciation to its loyal customers, LEDO Pizza is offering deals the week of October 3rd through the 9th at participating locations.
On its actual anniversary, October 5th, LEDO is offering customers a $0.55 small cheese pizza special, available for dine-in or carryout. The rest of the week, stores are discounting all fountain sodas to $0.55. Please note the drink special is not valid on October 5th.
In 1955, the concept was simple: to provide high quality food at a great value in a comfortable, family atmosphere.
The legacy lives on today. The families that created LEDO Pizza now pass the tradition to other families in new areas. These franchises uphold the high standards that made LEDO Pizza famous. Very little has changed since 1955. The pizza is still made the same way.
There are some unique qualities of LEDO Pizza that come from its long history. People often ask why LEDO Pizza is rectangular. The round pizza pans commonly seen today were very new in the fifties. Rectangular baking pans were readily available, hence the square pizza. Since that time, round pans have become the rage as pizza operators are able to cut costs by giving the appearance of more, while actually offering less. Thick pepperoni is also a LEDO trademark.
Its unique size resulted from the cooks cutting the pepperoni by hand. The thicker the slice, the faster the work was finished. While entrees and subs have a somewhat shorter history, they have become famous as well. The subs are made with freshly baked bread and stuffed generously. The Italian salad is large enough for a meal and comes with LEDO salad dressing. Other delicious entrees include lasagna, spaghetti, soup, salad and breadsticks.

The Waldorf chicken sandwich includes chopped chicken, apples, celery and dried cranberries tossed in an apple cider dressing. Served with lettuce, tomato, mayo and glazed pecans on either a submarine or ciabatta roll.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Hopkins Children’s fourth in the nation’s top children’s hospitals. It is Maryland’s largest pediatric hospital with 176 beds and is the only state-designated trauma center for children. Hopkins Children’s is currently under construction for expansion.
Since its creation near the University of Maryland, in 1955, LEDO Pizza has dedicated much time to giving back to its beloved community. Golf Classic 2008
September 22, 2008 – On September 10, 2008, LEDO Pizza held its 15th annual Golf Classic to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Over 225 players participated in this year’s tournament which took place at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course. The event, hosted by Frank Herzog, a radio sportscaster legend for the Washington Redskins, raised $40,000 for the worthwhile cause. Entertainment was provided by members of the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders, and Wentworth Richardson performing the island steel drums.
The success of the event relied heavily upon its numerous sponsors including at the $5,000 Chairman’s Club level- Pepsi, US Foodservice, Solution Sales, and Lankford Sysco; at the $2,000 Master’s Circle level- Perdue Farms; and many, many more. Tisher Nissan provided two luxury cars up for grabs if a hole in one was acquired on the designated holes. Other companies, like O’Leary’s Restaurant and DaMimmo, donated items for the silent auction.
One hundred percent of the proceeds benefited John’s Hopkins Children’s Center, the pediatric hospital at John’s Hopkins. Hopkins Children’s prides itself on treating every child that enters its vicinity. It offers patients the best care available in modern pediatric medicine. U.S. News & World Report ranks Hopkins Children’s fourth in the nation’s top children’s hospitals. Since its creation near the University of Maryland, in 1955, LEDO Pizza has dedicated much time to giving back to its beloved community. The company has grown a lot over the past 53 years but the famous square pizza and trademark thick pepperoni can still be found at any one of its 86 franchise locations across the East Coast. LEDO Pizza Swings for Sick Children at Johns Hopkins Center
September 7, 2006 – On September 13th , 2006, LEDO Pizza will be holding its 13th annual Golf Classic to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Over 250 players are expected at this year’s tournament at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course, which will be hosted by Jimmy Alexander from Mix 107.3’s Jack Diamond Morning show. Players will also be joined by Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders, and an island steel drum ensemble all donating their time and energy to help raise funds for the Center.
Every year, the LEDO Pizza family holds its Golf Classic to raise money for the John’s Hopkins Children’s Center. The Center takes care of children from around the corner, and across the globe. It offers one of the most comprehensive pediatric medical programs in the country from performing emergency trauma surgery to finding causes of and treatments for childhood cancers, to delivering a child’s good bill of health. In addition the Center offers children a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities, including play, arts and crafts, a library, medical play and other preparation experiences to help children and families cope better with hospitalization.
When the first LEDO Pizza opened in 1955 near the University of Maryland, the road was a single lane and pizza seemed to be a passing trend. When they opened the restaurant, the owners wanted to keep things simple -- provide high quality food at a great value in a comfortable, family atmosphere. Word of mouth quickly made LEDO a favorite spot for local residents, the University of Maryland community, and the Washington Senators.
Very little has changed since 1955. The pizza is still made the same way. It is rolled to order with fresh handmade dough, topped with the same high quality cheese and tomatoes. The family that created LEDO Pizza now passes the tradition to other families in new areas. These franchises along the East Coast uphold the high standards that made the LEDO Pizza famous and a favorite of families everywhere.
